    H'dy 87g BTSP

anyone have experience of the SP vs the HP? I have been shooting the 87g BTHP for a while now, but am getting some big bruising which I'm not liking too much, and also have had a few non-exits which is no good for tracking.

really like hornady as a brand and bullet manufacturer, so wondering if anyone could comment on the effectiveness and expansion characteristics of the SP version..

    Hi Mate

I have used the Hornady 87g sp and found them ok. I didn't find them as accurate as the sierra 85g BTHP but still more than acceptable for stalking and foxing. My load was the same as with the Sierra 85g.The load used was 37gr N140 , Sako brass and Federal match primers. I didn't find the damage too bad but still preferred the Sierra's.

After about 1000 1500 of bullets and powders we used 70grn sp n160 51 - 53 grns got to the point we could put them down same hole sako - tika rifles 243 used for foxs to big stags i know you will say they are not legal every thing drops on the spot the best bullet we have found so far ( if you hit them in the right place )

Hi,ive been using 87grn Hornady sp in front of 45grn of n160 in m55 Tikkas for a long time, very accurate and very reliable.

Caution...please approach this load with caution ,this is above the present Vita Viori recomended maximum load!
