    Roe calling

Quite stormy humid weather the last couple of nights here...perfect for a bit of calling.

Have any of you had bucks moving to the call yet? Had some does moving in to have a look but no bucks yet myself.
Below is a link to my website.

Tried myself this evening, only a Muntie buck was interested

Much to early for bucks yet with me , have only brought bucks in in the actual rut we're still weeks from that. Does on the other hand seem to come as soon as there are young about.
Got a new reed type fox caller a month ago and had a doe come running from over 300 yds with it. Then she'd go back and come again over and over. She must have had young near. Did the same thing pretty much with a further.

my impression was bucks didn't start until mid-end July at the earliest.

I will not start till the 17th-20th july.
I am a big believer in NOT educating the local roe.
Ok if a buck comes its shot but if a doe comes, she will be WITHOUT a buck in tow and thats educated her for when you need her in a few weeks time.
We had nice hot weather here in march, the caller stayed in the gun cabinet where it lives till mid july.
    GOOD LUCK.

I don't entertain calling until I see the bucks running the does, at this point you know the does are in season, as John says no point in educating them.

Can I suggest you read Richard Prior on when to call. You will find it is not in June!
