Thread: Tikka M55 barrel thread?

  1. #1

    Question Tikka M55 barrel thread?

Dear all, please can anyone tell me what thread rate Tikka M55 actions are?

I have been offered one but it needs re-barrelling and I would like to know what thread rate they are to price up a replacement.

It's not the prettiest wood, but solid and straight grained. It would be a shame to see it go out of use as I believe they are highly rated actions.

    Yours hopefully, Simon

Mr Lewis, As they were made before Sako took over the factory, let alone Beretta, I was somewhat sceptical that they would be the same as the modern barrel/action threads. Hopefully you are right.

Hi, I have one in 222 that will need a new barrel soon but cant help. What I will say is make sure it doesnt need anything else before you buy it as parts are hard to come by and magazines are like Rocking horse S#*t but if you do buy it you won't be diss disappointed.

Don't ever remember the M55 being factory threaded (except the odd 1/2 unf) which was odd for them..............so it could be whatever the end user wanted.
Barrel twist depends on claibre or customer spec for calibre.
My 491 was a 1in 12 for .222. stuck with but it for the .222 mag I went to 1 in 9, because I'm using 77 or 80 gr usualy. = barrel is 500mm from chamber- like groups.

Chesapeake, whatever you are taking, I want some

I asked about the thread rate on the barrel/action, not whether they were factory threaded for a moderator or what twist rate they were. It is for a replacement barrel
