.222 and N133 loads

I went against my better judgement and listened to an RFD....I bought some N133 as he was out of N130 and he felt "N130 was too fast for 50gr .222" but had N133 in stock

have I made an error!?

I have looked up the VV data which lists 21.3-23gr (which is less than they said last time!)
I am not looking for a barrel busting MV so am hoping that it likes something around the 22gr mark

anyone using 133 and out of interest what charges?

Your RFD is obviously a man of discernment. N133 is just as good in .222 as .223, and seems to be identical to Nobel 3 which I finally ran out of.

My standard .222 load is Sierra 50gr SP (#1330) and 22.0 grs. of N133. From a Heym SR40 (60cm) barrel this gives 3050 fps so a little under the nominal 3140 for a .222. This does 'one-hole' groups when I try hard. Bullet base and powder meet so I'm happy.

Can confirm Sinistral's experience and advice. Have used N133 in .222 and .223 with 50 and 55 grain bullets. Produced good accurate loads.
The later Viht manuals give reduced charges when compared with earlier versions. I have never experienced a problem when loading to the earlier manual specs.

great
thanks

that is what I wanted to hear!
just second guessing myself.

just need to finish bluing the barrel and making the ammo now!!

One of the loads i use is 21.3 grains of n130 with a 50 grain v-max but I got a kilo tub of n133 very cheap but after trying it I flogged it on to a mate and went back to n130 I was not happy with the amount I was trying to fit in a case and hearing it compress as I seated the bullet although it grouped well. Also you get more bangs for your money with n130.
