    6.5-06

Was talking with my mate the other day about my old 30-06 and he said I should of had it rebarrelled in 6.5-06,I never heard of it until he said about it,ive looked in reload manuals since,is this a good 1000yd caliber, also read 25-06 cases easily necked up,any thoughts chaps.

Just do a 6.5x284 in a long action, much better brass and equal ballistics.

why not stick with the dirty six?

Hmmm, just wondering if anyone could tell the difference in the real world between a 6.5-06 and a 270? 130gr or 140gr bullets in either?

    No.

    Didn't think so.
    Brian.

Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get you......

I bet you can when you're asking a gunshop for some ammo after you find you've left it behind and you've just arrived in Argyll..

    Have you actually tried them?

    I have and now I don't have a .270win anymore.

    Isn't that just a 6.5x64 Brenneke?
Think they designed it to re-chamber 6.5x57's as they lacked in oomph

Would not agree about 6.5x57, I use this and I find it more of a performer than the 6.5x55 (faster and flatter) and seems to handle the 120 grn bullet better as it has a shorter throat (my T3 6.5x55 much prefered the 140grn load).
Pity the 6.5x57 is not so popular in the U.K as it is in Germany etc.

It would be a very high bc head being launched by 30-06 power,I quite like the ideal but is it a barrel burner
