    Jeremy Vine on radio two

Listened to a discussion on the show. Animal Aid spokesman was putting a case for shooting magazines to be on the top shelf. I only caught a part of it. What a load of rubbish.

    Animal Aid huh!

Read all abaht it, (on any shelf you like).

"Animal Aid supporters will soon start leafleting outside WHSmith branches throughout the UK, calling on shoppers to back an age restriction."

Hopefully that will give some of us the chance to make our own views known when we pay a visit to out local library, (W H Smiths), for a browse.

Have you read the leaflet their producing. Here's a bit

Shooting organisations claim that when children are
introduced to guns at an early age they can be taught
properly how to handle weapons, learning discipline,
respect for guns, and the importance of gun safety. Gun
Control Network is not aware of any research in support
of that claim. The majority of firearms offences are
committed with weapons, including airguns and BB guns
which are likely to be legally-owned.

I've highlighted the bit at the end in red. Can we not do something about this. They're effectively calling us criminals

On the one hand they are saying that they know of no research to support the claim that early age introduction promotes responsibility, and then go on to make a claim that I really do not think any research would support..

We will always have our opposition and everyone has the right to voice their views unfortunately however twisted they may be. We just have to do our bit not to give them any angle to have a pop.
When I read the following "The majority of firearms offences are
committed with weapons, including airguns and BB guns
which are likely to be legally-owned." I thought what a daft statement - The majority of firearms offences are
committed with weapons - Of course they are as they wouldn't be a FIREARM offence would they?

Seriously though, we should always check our gun security, whatever type of gun it is. I have always kept my airgun in the safe.

Reading another part - which are likely to be legally-owned - Yes, on record they may be legally owned, but the may not be in the hands of the registered keeper. E.g. stolen out of a cabinet then used in a manner not representative of a professional sportsman or gamekeeper.

If the magazines are moved to top shelf that's fine cause at the moment my newsagent doesn't keep any shooting mags on any shelf so that's a step forward!!
