    what glue?recomend

    Hi folks,
The rear stud has pulled out of my tikka ABS stock, what glue would you recommend. Tried liquid steel which is an epoxy resin that lasted about 5 minutes any tips would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Speak to EDI as he makes synthetic stocks so should be able to advise the best way to go.

Do you mean the recoil lug under the action? And was it tight fit to start with?

Sounds like it needs to be properly filled and re-drilled. Then use a longer stud and fix it in with araldite. Rifles and scopes cost to much to not have it done properly, as well as the obvious safety issue!

He say's the 'rear' one mate.
The front one can be plated from inside which makes for a very strong repair.

Sorry folks it's the rear stud for attaching the sling. What would you fill it with MS, I was hoping that there would be an epoxy resin out their suitable for gluing it permanently. Thanks again

You could epoxy a brass or steel adapter in the rear 'hole'
Use a front machined stud in place of the 'wood screw' one!
Wow dementia really set in today...plastic, waste of time with epoxy then, better to make a screw in adapter...

I have one of those stocks lying around and had a look.
Best might be to take off the recoil pad and pull out the ribbed section. Drill a 5mm hole through
where the stud is and fit a threaded stud with a nut and large washer and loctite.
If you are stuck I have a few of those threaded studs with a nut.
The T3 stock seems to be made of a Polypropylene material. Similar to what glue bottles are made of
so that the glue doesn't stick... Not easy to get anything to glue well to.

Have a chat with a local friendly engineer who will probably have some 'Helicoil' inserts or 'Dodge' plastic types. See here:
    http://www.helicoil.in/
You should be able to repair/replace you thread with one of these. You will have to find a suitable sling stud bolt first and then fit the suitable thread insert to suit. There are loads of these types of inserts on the web or evilbay!
    Some more here;

    Hope this helps.
