Thread: Baser scope height

    Blaser scope height

I have been looking at Blaser R8's, now, I am keen to achieve good scope/eye alignment.
I thought a 42mm objective scope may be the way to go but they seem to be a bit high above the barrel and it looks like they dont go any lower.
I may have a wonky face (it has been said!) but its still too high for me.
Question is, can it be made any lower or do other people not have any problems?

If thats as low as they go, then I might as well have a bigger objective.

Comb raisers might be a pain when you need to remove the bolt?

Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated.

    Hi Tim,

    Thanks for the swift reply.

Are your mounts lower than these do you think, these have a 12-15 mm gap between the objective and the barrel?

Alex, the approximate gap, objective - barrel is around 13mm measured with a tape measure so this appears to be consistent with yours. atb Tim

Do you have the original Blaser Saddle Mount fitted?

On my R93 I have a 8x56 mounted on the standard mounts which clears the barrel quite easily.
You can use lower scope rings if you needed to bring the scope down for your eye level or comfort or use a scope specific rail system

I had the scope rings from Chris Potter at www.gun.co.uk

Maybe give them a call. It may be that your scope rings are the 'high' version or a non standard fitting?

Thank you Tim and Fraser, I will look closer at what they are offering.

I do want to get it right.

I will follow up those leads, cheers.
