    Some advice please .257r

    1. I'm in the market for a new rifle.
    2. Have a chance at a new Ruger No1 in .257r
    3. I don't mind single shot rifles. If you can't do it with the first shot then go home
    4. I already reload

I've always liked the ruger no1, but would like to moderate it also. The bloody gunshop said 200 for threading and recrown and proof!! I nearly fell off my chair. But the rifle new is 650, cases and heads about the norm at 40 and mounts 75. Funny thing is I've never had a new rifle. I also like the idea of being able to re-stock it with a synthetic.

    I'm dithering and stuck-----------------sensible thoughts please. And no I don't want a 25-06

go for it, hands down, oh, and find another place to crown and thread, 30-40 should be all that's needed. Proofing is not necessary, don't let them force you down that route.
