    load for 30-06

I have a browning a bolt 30-06 and I am struggling to get a load for it. It really doesnt seem to like 150 grain soft point spitzers.

Has anyone got a load to offer?

    cheers

Before I suggest a load, what components are you using? And how far from the lands is your bullet? (That's not the same question as "what is the overall length?")

Ive got a variation in for a Springfield can't wait, what powder do you have my mate is using 58.5 grains of reloader 17- Barnes ttsx 150gr pill federal 210 primer for approx 3060fps with great success in the field and performs well on the range to at distance

My Sako TRGS .30-06 shot well with 150gr Hornady SP BT bullets , 56.5gr of Viht N160 and the standard Remington 9.5 primer.
Also with 150gr Hornady Round-nose SP bullets , 51gr of Varget and the CCI 200 standard primer.
    I never used magnum primers.

Sako 85, 20 inch barrel, Speer 165 grain Spt, 60 to 62 grains Viht N160, standard primer. 2,800 fps with minimal spread. Powerful and effective load for my rifle.
Others have commented that this is a lot of powder however it is a very consistent load with no pressure signs and good case life.

Its a good question that I cant answer at the moment. A mate has suggested that this can be the critical thing in 30-06. What distance would you go for?

I get good results with 165 grain siera game ging pushed with 52 grains of vit 140 I get sub MOA without much development.

I don't know above 150 but I'm using Sierra 150gr soft point boat tail. 55gr of H380. They are doing 2825fps and will cloverleaf if I do my bit. Through a T3lite with a 20" barrel and JetZ on the front.

But have been told that the 165gr bullet is the 'optimum' weight. I don't know.

Just checked zero on some 150g Noslers for an upcoming trip, decided to air the '06.
Will not complain about that load!

Forgot to add seated 1 cal. deep, me and the dead owls don't give a hoot about where the lands are! more important to tune for OBT!

Hi Shootingduckdog if you look in the thread rifle recomendations .243 page 3 you will see targets i shot with load data for 150grn bullet which is the optimum bullet weight for 30-06. This load is also good for the 150grn Sierra Pro Hunters. My cases were Sako and primers Federal LR.

    Kind regards Jimbo
