    New Zealand hunting

    Hi Guys,

I hunt the same sort of game you do in the UK.
The animal in the picture was imported from the UK but comes from another part of the World.

Does anyone know what it is?

I'm from Christchurch and am just setting up a pig hunt for a visitor from India.
But my favourite animal is the tahr which lives in magnificent scenery.

Well done for those who knew that tahr came from Woburn Abbey to New Zealand in the early 1900s

A Hemitragus bull in the snow tussock

Yep, you're onto it...it's up the Rangitata a few kilometers off what we call the Main Divide.

You can tell in the picture from the large snow tussocks that grow in those mountains.

A New Zealand Chamois Hunt in the Snow

CHAMOIS Hunting. West Coast of South Island

The weather got a bit rugged last weekend...it fined up for the Sunday but there was a heap of powder snow about.
We stopped to do some scanning and a chamois ran past about 50 meters away.
Unfortunately it was too quick for me to get a photo.

    Dear Thar,

Can you explain the spelling of your name? "Thar".

Over here in New Zealand there had been books written on the difference between the words "tahr" and "thar".
