    Malformed antlers

This may be a silly question but when a deer casts it's malformed antlers, do they grow back the same shape next year or do they "have another go and try to get it right"

It depends on the cause of the malformation .
If an antler is broken whilst in `hard horn` it will cast and grow normally the following year , however if there is damage to the pedicle upon which the antler grows then you can expect a deformed horn each following year .

Nothing wrong with that question, thought about it myself a few times.
