Thread: Only gone and ordered an AI.

Red face Only gone and ordered an AI.

Well, my dad ordered and AICS for his rem 700 .308 from sporting services, long story short I went and picked it up for him this morning. And after spending a bit of time there chatting with Tom, have ended up ordering an accuracy international AE in 6.5x47 Lapua, with a 26" fluted barrel, folding stock and threaded muzzle brake (so that the moderator can go on over the muzzle brake), the only downside is I will be broke when it arrives but it won't be here until March / April. It doesn't matter though I have patience, I am a deer stalker! Who I am kidding they let me fondle one I WANT IT NOW.

Just to keep this thread sort of about stalking here is my lovely roe buck I shot last weekend @130 yards off of an idleback chair. These chairs are a brilliant bit of kit and defiantly worth the money, although probably more suited to foxing.

Not sure you have done the correct thing, will be a bit heavy and you will need to get a lightweight moddy.

I have a .223 remmy 700 in an ACIS and with a Wildcat moddy its a bit of a lump. It is however very accurate esp when prone so that is an advantage as you do not have to get too close.

Suggest you invest in a Biathlon type sling which will make stalking much easier however not the quickest riffle to deploy if you need to take a quick shot.

I have retrofitted a Jackson universal 2 stage match trigger to mine which has transformed it, however needs a fair bit of work on the chasis to get it to fit.

    Regards

Probably should have mentioned it will be used mainly for the range, hope to take it up to Diggle for the fly shoot and out to 1100m at Lydd. Although it would be rude not to shoot and few deer with it, maybe the days I am in a high seat.

Having just read this thread and looking at the price of that chair, i've just nearly fell off mine. That's 109.80 more than i spent on my rifle, scope and mod. Nice bit of kit tho, and as for the AICS, there's always tonights lottery!!!

After having remy 700 customised inc aics stock I wouldn't yearn for an ai now,I did for a long time though ,am more than happy with mine, enjoy shooting your new rifle, atb swaro

AI switch barrel functionality and the relative low cost of the barrels is a major plus.
AI robustness is unparralleled but I think the TRG has it in terms of finesse... Not that I'm biased.

I've just got an ai ae mk3 in .308, you will like it im sure. Very, very accurate and consistent. The second group i shot with mine measured 0.068", that was 5 shots at 120y with no load development. I shot a nocturnal predator with the 6th shot after proof with mine, it will be used on deer soon and probably be rebarelled in 47L at some point. I think its unfair to compare a custom remmy to an ai, might be accurate, but not in any way comparable.

Had mine, a left handed 7.62 since August. Mainly used at Bisley for Mc Queens and on the Stickledown or Thorpe Cloud. Excellent, really weather proof, if heavy kit. The guys at Calton Moor were really helpful when running the barrel in and setting up the scope.
    What scope are you fitting?

My remy is as good as ai any day, only part remy is action, very close resemblance to look at,ai got better bolt, when all said and done its about accuracy and mine will match ai and it's also cheaper too
