I have the full leather ones and they are awesome. I've worn them hunting in the heat of Spain, to sitting in a high seat here in midwinter at -10 and never felt too hot or too cold. They seem to fend of thorns brilliantly.
    Wouldnt be without mine.

I have the Harkila Extreme ones, these are waterproof as they are gore-tex lined, can't fault them this is the second pair I have had, first pair lasted for about four years, until I caught a fallow calf that couldn't get over a stock fence to follow its mother as I put it over the fence it kicked out catchng me on he nuts and bursting the crotch of my trousers and as they are gore-tex lined you can't stitch it, I did wear them for a while after but it got to the point of there was more out than in!!!!
They are a bit warm mid summer there is only a couple of month a year that i don't wear mine, you can walk through gorse or brambles without feeling anything.
Go for it you won't regret it.

    I have the Orynx trousers.
All I will say is they don't like barbed wire !!
Do not attempt to climb over a barbed wire fence in them.
    The leather is thin !
They would be better trousers without the leather but to have instead
Double thickness canvas on the knees and seat.
