    Load data for .308 Sierra Pro-Hunter 150grn

    Hi all,
Does anyone have minimum load data for Sierra 150grn Pro-hunter in .308?
I've had a look but can't find anything online. I've got Hodgdons H4895 powder as recommended by RFD.
    Thanks.

Modern reloading (lee) says start 43.0gr-2742fps never exceed 45.5gr-2870fps min O A L 2.800.Hope this helps.
Politicians are like nappies, they should be changed frequently and for the same reason.

Hodgdon's book gives min 43grn and 45grn max for H4895 under 150gr pill.

I use 44.5grn H4895 under 150gr Sierra Game King giving 2869 fps, no pressure signs and very accurate.

With this load I am spot on at 100yds, 3.76" low at 200yds and 14" at 300yds. Works for me but please do not take this as given for your rifle. Work up from minimum load till you find the sweet spot and good luck

Thanks both - that gives me a start and will certainly work up from the minimum load.
    Many thanks!

Thanks Bob, yes it certainly is - I'm working up to 45.5.
Yesterday I shot 4 rounds each in 0.5grn intervals starting at 43grn. The picture in above post was the better of the groups although 45grn (as picture below) may have been better but the 4th round wouldn't chamber for some reason so I dont know where that 4th shot would have gone until I try again with consistent method.

Next outing I will start at 44 and load up to 45.5. The worst of the grouping which was the 43grn was still in 1.5" however.

THATS NOT BAD BUD, ON LOAD DEVELOPMENT WITH A 308 IT TAKES TIME (SORRY IM ON THE HTC PHONE,AND NEED THE CAPS LOCK.), WHEN YOU WANT TO USE A SPACIFIC ROUND/WEIGHT OF BULLET ETC.

I WOULD BE HAPPY WITH THOSE RESULTS BEING WHERE YOU ARE AT THIS TIME ON THE DEVELOPEMENT FRONT/POWDER WEIGHT I HOPE UPING IT WILL PULL THEM TOGETHER,

I ALWAYS HAVE TO STICK A BIG BIT OF PAPER ON THE RIFLE SAYING SLOW DOWN ON THE SHOTS, KEEP IT COOL.

THIS IS ALL I WANT IS THE RESULTS AND I RIP THEM OFF DOWN RANGE KEEN TO SEE HOW IM DOING.

    BEST OF LUCK.

    BOB.

PS: THIS WAS A MATES BEST LOAD BUT HE DID DROP THE POWDER A WEE BIT MORE.

    Bullet Speer HP
    BulletWeight 130 grs
    Powder Hodgdon H4895
PowderWeight 47 grs.... DOWN TO 46.4 GRS PULLED THE GROUP IN TO JUST OVER A 1/4" GROUP
    Primer CCI 250
    Brass Make Norma
    Barrel Length 14 (inches)
    C.O.L 2.666 (inches)
    Velocity 3000 fps
Group 0.5 (inches by 3 shot at 100 yds)

Perhaps it would be a good idea to vary the seating depth now and leave the charge as it is. Load up 5 rounds with the bullet seated 0.010" deeper and 5 with it 0.010" further out (unless you too close to the lands that is ) from you starting seating depth. it's quite possible that this will tighten the group. Myself I would work shorter and look for the grouping tightening up and rounding out and only go longer if this did not work. You can use which ever way suits you of course.

Here's the Sierra 308 load data. Unfortunately there's nothing for the 150gn 308/H4895 combination, but it might be useful for you.
