Certificate fees - who to pay

Dear All,

With the appointment of Police and Crime Commissioners (PCC's), Police Authorities no longer exist. Licensing departments will no longer be able to accept cheques made payable to a Police Authority.

It is imperative that your cheque for your grant or renewal etc. of a firearm, shotgun, RFD certificate or visitors permit must be made payable to the correct police force account to avoid delays in processing your application.

Of course, your local licencing team should let you know this, but just to be safe either double check with them or see the list of payees on the BASC web site here:

Best wishes

Will this affect applications already in the system?

David,

I have found that Lincolnshire have no problems with receipted cheques prior to the changeover.

What is important with Lincolnshire is to be aware that they now only bank at month end and so do not enter your application/renewal until funds have cleared.

Thank you for the question Lucky Sniper, I have been informed that the licencing teams are going to keep the old accounts open for 6 months to cater for those already in the system.
