    Shot my first woodcock on my shoot yesterday....very happy chappy. Pics in my album.

    were they sitting tight ,we have our first frost yesterday and the woodcock and snipe are sitting like stones ,gun lenghth out or little more and some making such poor rise we let them go on there way, they proberly dropped in during the early morning ,will try them again towards the end of the week,and see if they have slept it off.

    Did you eat it? Roasted on a slice of toast in the oven with the beak skewering the thighs and the "draw" all soaking into the toast. Lovely. In fact you could throw the bird aay and just eat the "draw" and the toast!

    yes sitting very tight the dogs were almost on top of each one of them

    Im letting it hang then flaming in coganc roasting with garlic and thyme with the beak skewered through the thigh. ......
