Shooting Times - Wayward shot grazes neck

Saw this story in Shooting Times this week, and found this on the web: Local man escapes stray bullet near Hailsham | This is Sussex

A sobering story for anyone who reads it. Presuming the story is accurate, one wonders whether the stalker was aware?

As the shot was taken at 8:15 pm in December, I sincerely hope it wasn't a legitimate stalker who was out shooting! What a nightmare for the chap in the car! Thankfully OK, but as you said - a sobering story.

That would be my guess as well.

Should anyone have any information, here is the official police report: MediaCentre - Sussex Police

Doesn't say they saw a lamp and what about the height of the stray bullet

I guess Sussex's finest were looking for a stalker and not someone lamping seeing it was dark and had been for several hours!?! Round here "night time stalkers use a.22" as they did on two of my mates sheep just before Christmas!!! Anyway I know it was only eight ish but why was there a guy and two friends parked up a country lane in the dark anyway?!?

We can only speculate what happened. There could be many factors which caused this to happen, a ricochet or a delfection to name but 2. A truley frightening experiance for those in the car and lucky no one was seriously hurt. Lets not have a trial by S/D. I would hope the person who squeezed the trigger steps forward to clear this matter up.
