New engine in defender ( skint again)

Went to see a landrover specialist today. He is supplying and fitting a discovery engine 200TDI for 1500 .00.

Hope it's the answer to all my problems.

I've found the TD5 to be a rather good unit if bl--dy noisy!

Hope it works out for you.

    Cheers

ok gearbox won't fit a disco is short stick defender is long , a disco box in a defender will have the gearlever coming out through the seat box unless he is going to strip your old box and make one out of the two which is alot of work for very little gain. your old box would fit up against a 200 tdi irrespective what lr diesel engine was in it initially unless your defeder was a v8

Really ????? Honestly I am sick to the back teeth with this.
Ive had prices from 995 which is ment to be a replacement engine. Till you ask questions and then discover it requires 600 quids worth of add on to make it run.
To 2500 for reconditioned engines that when asked aren't reconditioned just rebuilt. Seems everyone just wants to bend you over

you don't need to change the box certainly not to a discovery box
a defender engine is basically a straight transplant into your machine
a discovery is fittable but needs a few bits fiddling with exhaust down pipe etc
give these lads a ring they have a good reputation
