    Cutting down barrel

I'm thinking of cutting down my sako 75 25-06 to try and get better handling and balance with the moderator, T4, on it.

is there an optimal length for this calibre, are there any concerns??
    thanks.

As you are probably aware a 24" barrel is the morm for the calibre. My old shr alpine had a 20" and to be honest at the ranges I was shooting (150 max) the deer didnt complain. If you did chop it back to 20" then if you homeload perhaps a slightly faster powder may help. But I suppose it all depends on the distance your shooting over!!

    Good luck

Not sure what chopping the barrel will do to the resale value of the rifle? Wouldn't be my cup of tea. I quite liked my Ruger M77 MK II in .25-06 with a 24 inch barrel. Regards JCS

I dont think youll have a problem just remember youll loose speed and thats what the 25-06 thrives/relies on.
