    Hi from southern Germany

Just a short introduction. Was born in Newcastle but have lived here in Bavaria for over thirty years, have had a german hunting licence since 2001 and my own shoot of approx. 500 hectares since 2010. For deer control (Roe) I use 7x57, 7x64 and 308 Win. for vermin I have DB12 bore and .22 Win. As of to-date we no wild boar in my area but they are on their way, a few having been shot a few kilometres away from here.

Welcome to the site! Do you use a dog at all for tracking?

    Kind regards, Jez

Thanks for the welcomes. Have a Springer which is gun shy and now a pet for my wife, have used it a couple of times for tracking Roe. They don't spring very far anyway, about 60 meters is the farthest we've had to look and I think the dog found it by chance, there are plenty of teams around for tracking should it become necessary.

I have a springer too which I use for picking up, along with my labs, on a few commercial shoots near me.. I have not long got myself a Hanoverian which I am training( or trying to!) to track... I hope to get over to Germany and do some tracking in the future..

    Regards, Jez

Welcome ex-gerodie, I, too have a German license and offer my assistance if the Schartzwild get to many, too fast. ;-) My rifles, for them, and all big game, vary between my .303 British Enfield and my 8X57. I hope to be using my 30.06 soon after I get back over there in the summer of 2014.

    Again welcome aboard.
