    Guys

    i was in your situation not too long ago. no idea what powders to use. i settled for vihtavouri N160 for 100 grn hornady btsp. have since tryed nosler 95grn BT also with N160 and they are perfect. but have just bought myself some speer 80grn hotcore heads to try. get a load made up for those soon. there is loads of options. dpends what size of bullet you are intending using. but varget, vith n160, vith n140 all seem too be goo for 243. depends where u will be getting your powder from, limted choice in places and you want a supply u can go back to with ease. not easy up here in aberdeenshire. choice is limited.

    Most .243 rifles perform better with bullets around 75 grains weight.
    Try working up to the load below, it is devastating on Foxes and Carrions but a bit destructive on Deer.
    For them I use soft-point bullets.

    There are one or two loads listed in this link - Site Needs .243/.243AI Loads Comments
    I have recently been using Hornady Manufacturing Company :: Bullets :: Rifle :: Choose by Caliber :: .243 6mm :: 6mm .243 87 gr BTHP with N160.
    I've also had some success with Hornady Manufacturing Company :: Bullets :: Rifle :: Choose by Caliber :: .243 6mm :: 6mm .243 87gr SP
    I find the Hornady Manual a good reference too.

    I use 36grn of vit n140 as that is what I can obtain locally, with 90grn bullets which go best in my .243. Group sizes are very tight so I am happy with combination. If I was loading for 100grn bullets I would prefer to use H4831. atb Tim
