45 gr of 160 will work, wouldnt bother with varget as you wont get enough in the case to get a good fill

Acording to Hodgdons loading data for Varget. Start load 36 grns gives 3137 fps, max load 38.5 grns gives 3355 fps .Hope this helps.
FWIW I use varget in my 243 65 grn Vmax and 85 grn Sierra holow points with exellent results.

In terms of filling a case with powder Varget should be fine up to an 85 grain bullet (you should be getting at least 3000fps perhaps 3100 at the higher end). Using a 100gr bullet you will be struggling to get the velocities needed for the minimum legal energy for England. Just back off 10% from max loads and work up.

if i remember rightly , i used n160 with 42.5 for your bullet weight ,but like i say this is from memory , i will double check though.

33gr in a case that will hold between 53-55.5 is too low IMO.

36.5 grains of varget with sierra 80grn soft points works very nicely in my .243

    Hang on a minute!

Even if you fill a .243 case to the very top with Varget you won't get much more than 51gr in it. Filled up to the shoulder makes it about 44grs.

38 grains for an 85gr bullet is the max load I work from (used in Modern Reloading) so really you are still filling the majority of the case.
