    calling roe

    Hi there, I'm very keen to try and call roe this season ive never done it could any one give a few pointers please?

    The best thing is to get hold of the Richard Prior tape on Roe Calling:

    It's a lot easier to listen to someone doing the call rather than trying to figure it out from a book See also:

    I have found that the trick is to use the call only when you are really sure the rut is on, and then to use it very little. When a buck comes steaming through the wood in response it certainly gets the adrenaline flowing

    i was very lucky as i was shown the other day how to use a buttalo call buy a very generous gentlman and they really do work but as im just a novice i cant really give you any advice sorry

    i luv that clip
    the way he says 'good shot rog, he's straight down' then moments later the deer gets up and runs off
    only on films does that happen

    looks like it was spined by the way it was thrashing about but can't be sure
    hopefully it was gathered a short while later
    i think the saying goes 'never work with children or animals'

    actally a liver shot went 10m and bled out, would,nt have got up and run 10m but thats on the full legnth vid.

    Thanks for clearing that up.

    Any chance you can point me in the direction of the full length video, on a DVD or similar? All the videos I've got of UK stalking seem to be accompanied by Scandinavian or Eastern European commentary, so it would be nice to have one where I could actually understand what they are saying

    i have a dvd out now yorkshire roe stalking vol 1. 6.50 inc p+p. free if your a client.it lasts about 93 mins i think. well worth a look.
    that footage is to new,only yesterday i am creating vol 2 now it will be much slicker than 1 as ive got the hang of it now it should be out end of buck season.
