Soft point or ballistic tip depends on what you are shooting...more info needed

I would be going to use it for roe deer mostly.

in that case a Hornady 87gr boat tail hollow point with Vit 160 will do both jobs fine

    Rifle - Sako 85 without a doubt.

Ammo - H&L shots are about penetration and creating a large wound channel, so for this reason I use soft points for deer. Soft point 100gn also do the job on fox, but so will any .243 round! Ballistic tips release their energy v quickly as they shatter so are less likely to go all the way through, great for head and neck shots I'm sure but couldn't tell you how they perform on chest shot deer.

if you're shooting fox, roe, and the odd larger species at sensible distances you won't go far wrong with a 75 or 80gn soft point. I use 100gn cos my gun likes it! Am working on a load for 80gn though.

Sako 75 or Tikka 595 much better than the newer models IMPO.

    For Sale: tikka 595 243
