Thread: Is the Roe rut still on?

Is the Roe rut still on?

A couple of my pals have just come back from a long weekend on our lease in Dumfrieshire and saw very few deer. The ground holds a good head of roe but they struggled to see any at all whereas normally we see multiple animals each stalk, even the does were keeping a low profile. They did find a nice roe ring in some open woodland. Could the rut be over?

Mudman just spent weekend a little south of your place in Cumbria and it was certainly on there.

I was out yesterday morning and watched a buck chasing a doe. He followed her for a short time until she went through the hedgerow. I then squeeked him in to the call. He's going to be made into sausages this morning

I'm out again guiding this evening and we'll try the call.

Still on here in cornwall, watched a buck chasing a doe round yesterday morning for about ten minutes with his head up her ass before he finally mated with her.Lucky for him i had no safe shot on,nice to see future generations in the making though, hope that don't make me sound like a perve.

I was at dorset this morning and they came running for the call and i managed to grass a small four pointer.
While a good friend was out on the levels last night and called a good buck 300 yards ,and it must be true its in my chiller this morning.
So it looks like its still on in places at least.

    Roe Rut

Its still on here in South Yorkshire. Last night I called in a nice five pointer to 125 yards. Hes in the chiller now. As JR says when the sun is shining there seems to be roe all over the place.

from people i have been speaking to they say its the worst rut they have every had. I have been out 8 times in the last two weeks and not had one buck come to the call or seen any rutting action anywhere and i have been out in countys that hold alot of roe in the area.

Out last night, but the buck I saw certainly had not interest in coming to the call
