Thread: 22-250

Just wondering what size/type of bullet 22-250 users are using for Fox and Roe, by what I'm reading somewhere between the 50gr and 55gr seems to be the norm?

    Appreciate your feedback.

    Hi Bryan
I can't respond on roe because I then use Gameking 100g in 243 and Nosler 120g in 6.5x55. On foxes I have had fantastic results with AMax 52g in 22-250. They're theoretically a target bullet but they do expand significantly as proven in ballistic gel and on live quarry.

    Cheers Richard,
I have the .243 for Roe also but want to have the 22-250 mainly for fox but with the option to take Roe should it become available, I have heard the A-max is a good bullet, but will be looking for something suitable for the deer too.

Nosler 55 grain Ballistic Tips are superb. I also use Sierra 55 grain HPBT GameKing which are pretty good and cheap.
I've used 40 grain and 50 grain Hornady VMAX and they're good on most but I think the Noslers have the edge. Hornady 55 grain SXSP are not fashionable but work a treat on lighter stuff. I'd not use these or the VMAX on deer...
BTW I have used 53grain Sierra MKs on bunnies and I'd not recommend them as they ricochet post exit something awful. They are accurate...but then out of a 22-250 most things are except Sako 55grain SP in my Tikka T3.
Note that if you have a 1:14" twist the Sierra 55 grain BlitzKing may not I discovered having bought a slack handful.

Sako 55 grain game head works very very well on either.
