Dear forum members

We need your help promoting shooting in the lead up to the General Election. The Countryside Alliance has launched a Rural Manifesto, a wide ranging manifesto calling on the next government to ensure no further unnecessary restrictions on firearms or shooting in the UK, more recognition of shooting’s importance to rural tourism and the economy and full support and sports funding for shooting sports. We work hard to promote a positive image of shooting across the media, protect the rights of shooters in Parliament and introduce new people to shooting sports.

• Our Game-to-Eat campaign goes from strength to strength in promoting the health benefits of game to the mainstream market – game sales having risen 64% since the campaign launched in 2002. With venison being the most popular game meat consumed, stalkers continue to play an important dual role of managing the wild deer population and responding to increasing public demand – something we shall continue to support and promote.
• We continue to introduce shooting sports to thousands of newcomers through National Shooting Week, giving people the chance to try shotguns, airguns and rifles for the first time – perhaps inspiring them to explore live quarry shooting in the future.
• Through the extensive media coverage of our Shooting Stars campaign, where we profiled 23 young people that work in the shooting sector – one of whom was a professional stalker - we continue to highlight the role shooting plays in providing much needed jobs and income in rural areas.

And on a practical front, we provide comprehensive member advice on firearms issues and risk assessments and offer the most competitive and comprehensive shoot insurance package on the market - for syndicates and clubs, it’s just £20 person for the first year and only £40 thereafter. Individual membership of the Countryside Alliance is just £52, that’s just one pound a week.

We will continue to invest in, support and promote shooting. Signing up to our Rural Manifesto doesn't cost anything and will strengthen the chances of achieving our goals. So please, go to countryside-alliance.org.uk and click on the Rural Manifesto button, or call 020 7840 9242 for a Rural Manifesto postcard and by signing up to our Rural Manifesto you will be joining the hundreds of thousands who have already pledged their support.

Kindest regards
