Thread: 222 rifle

    222 rifle

Load information for 530viht and 50 grain blitzkings.

    why N530 out of interest?

N130 is pretty snappy for 50gr as it is and already gives decent case fill
the 5 series powders are higher energy rather than faster burn rate and of more use to larger case volumes

I know it doesn't help if you have already got the Vhit but RX7 is a good powder for the triple.

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy!
    Another 7mm08 shooter!

    Watching this with interest now!
Rake Aboot will have a laugh as I'm now thinking of a .222 myself (as he accused me of being jealous because I hadn't got one). Anybody got a pointer for a rifle make for this calibre bearing in mind I want to keep it as light and handy as possible, my young son is showing an interest which is my excuse anyway!

    RL-7 , H322 , H335 , IMR4198 , VV N-120 , VV N-130 , IMR8208 have all worked well for me in the Triple Deuce !

But then they've done well for me in the 204 Ruger and 223 also

Actually I have a pound on VV N-530 . I got it , the N-120 and N-130 originally for use in my 444 Marlin's with cast bullets .

All three have done okay or better in the 444 cast application . And the 120 and 130 have done nicely in the 222 . Makes me think I might try some of the 530 in my old 722 .

    good enough reason as any!

a specific charge of 530 should produce a pressure column similar to a lower charge of a faster powder but without the potential pressure spike associated with a faster burn rate.
I would start loading at N120 min levels and work up VERY slowly.

given the size of the case a 0.2gr increase can be dramatic and a "Go" or "No Go" situation!
its all going to be down to your rifle, brass and bullet combo anyway

be interested to see the results
