What's your point? I've killed a bull weighing a tonne with a .22RF. Doesn't mean that it is the tool of choice, but sure as hell it will do the job.

A bike would get me to work but I'd rather go in my Discovery.

Using something on the bottom end of the spectrum is never great in my opinion.

Section 161 of the Highways Act 1980 (England & Wales) makes it an offence to discharge a firearm within 50 ft of the centre of a highway with vehicular rights without lawful authority or excuse, if as a result a user of the highway is injured, interrupted or endangered.

Ah yes you are correct. What I am saying is that this caliber with this bullet weight is perfectly fine for an all round rifle. So no need to be worrying about what tool to bring.

And the point of this dumb post is ??.
TO STRIVE, TO SEEK, TO FIND. AND NEVER TO YIELD.

When hunting plainsgame in africa i would not use it to hunt anything more than a impala/blesbok and then you need to have a perfectly open shot with out any brush in your way. I am not sure what the size of europian animals are and how tough they are? But on plains game i would not.
Please dont get me wrong there is nothing wrong with a .243 and i have seen blue wildebeest and kudu being killed with it!!

But is not the ideal weapon for hunting in South Africa.

    Just my 2cents
    happy hunting

I fail to see how firing a rifle at a puddle can lead you to this conclusion.........don't get the point of this one!
