The cost may range from 600 to 900 depending on who does it.

The question would be "is it worth doing" even at the lower price range,,,

The bolt is the correct diameter for the 7mm-08 case (in essence the 7mm-08 is a necked down 308Win.

Dies would be needed and a variation too...

its what im probebly going to do for my first rifle but to .260 remington again a 308" case necked down to basically 6.5mm but Im probably unlikly to find a cheap second hand gun in 260 so donor 308 / 243 /7 08 thats shot out would be the answer

wouldnt mind a 338 federal later as well which is the same but necked up to 338 as a mid bore

lots of choices with thte same bolt etc

I don't know anything about Parker Hales, but in the slight chance it has the same thread as a Mauser 98 one would have a cheap
way of barrel change via pre chambered pre threaded Barrels off the shelf from Lothar Walther which retail around 200 Euro.
Only need to head space when fitting. I have one on a Mauser and it is very accurate.

7-08 is a great calibre, so is 338 Fed. 308 ? right in the middle, possibly the best of the lot.

Did exactly the same with a 308, albeit a Remington 700, to 7mm-08 and it has worked very well. Riflecraft in Norfolk could do it, as advertised 598.50 for a custom barrel. I would have thought that was the top end for a sporting rifle.

I did the same with a Sako 85 originally in .243 but rebarreled to 7mm-08. No regrets!

Maybe give Armalon a call. They bought the Parker Hale barrel plant and are producing and fitting them. ISTR a rebarrel and proof is about 500.

    They make them in 7mm.

    Stuart at Osprey approx same.

Anyone using an Armalon barrel - wondered how they compared with others...
