Looks very much like the pre-war coat of arms for the City of Coventry: City of Coventry Boarding School: The Changing Coat of Arms on the School Sign

    Jim

I was thinking about this last night (I know, I need to get a life).

I don't know whether the Thomas Bland records are still in existence (I did find this: http://www.woodcockhill.com/TB&S%20HISTORY.htm - they do offer a record check so might be worth an inquiry) but it would be interesting to find out some of the history of the gun and how it ended up in Canada. A letter to Shooting Times might also be worthwhile?

    Good luck!
