Difference between German & Hungarian S&B scopes?

Just curious what the difference is between the 2 scopes and how much they vary in price?

Is one markedly better than the other and for what reason?

    Cheers

I may be wrong, but I was told that they are both made from identical parts, the only difference is that the german ones are assembled in germany and the hungarian ones at a factory in hungary. Price is the only real diff as far as i know.

    The age old question lol

Cheaper labour in Hungary although I don't think s & b would admit that

The other thing I was told, and I've no idea if it is true, is that the Hungarian scopes go through quality control twice as they test them in Hungary and then again in Germany before shipping them. Apart from that the parts are said to be the same.

Ok fella's cheers I may have spent a few more quid than needed on a German scope then but I think I still got a decent deal?!

It's the most I've laid out on a scope so far in my hunting life so I hope so!!

Not to worry - the German scopes make more money second hand so if you ever come to sell, and I've no idea why you might want to, you will get your money back again.

Stratts fear not . I've recently changed from an 8x56 Hun to a 2.5-10x56 German ( both schmidts obviously ) there is a difference for sure . The finish feels nicer , the turrets are better made with heavier fittings . I know everyone says thereis no difference but generally it is because they have a Hungarian model .
Enjoy your scope , you've got a beautiful bit of kit there .

Been using a Hungarian Schmidt 6x42 on my .22 rimmie for 7 years now and I really like it ! I see no reason to change.
I also use a German 5-12x50 Schmidt on my .223 Rem and OK yes, a different format but I cant say its any brighter.

Hung or Germ., both great glass !

    Brider.
