    Remington 700 ejector spring shortening

    Hi guys,

I wish to shorten my Remington 700 ejector spring as it is sending the cases flying and its dinging the case mouth when ejecting. I have read or heard you can shorten the ejector spring to cure this problem. What is the best way to go about this guys, hack saw??? and how much would you advise shortening the spring by?

    Thanks for your help guys.

Can't you just ease the bolt open?
It's the calibre of the shooter that counts not the calibre of the rifle.

You could do it if you so wish, but I'd have a spare or two on hand in case you either go too far or don't like the new softer spring

Using a grinding wheel, remove one coil at a time....go too far & you'll know that the number of coils to remove was the number you just did, less one!!

I'd say possibly 2 coils at most...want to risk three? I can do you a good price on some new springs....
