    .243

    Hi members, i am currently toying with the idea of buying a new rifle, has anyone got any suggestions as to what make or model it has to be .243 screwcut, its really a budget rifle iam after say nothing more than £650 is there anything worth going for?

    you could do worse than a sako 75 or a tikka.

    in fact, those should be the exact two rifles you should look at, topped with something like a 6x42 S&B hungarian.

    I have a 75 in .243 with that scope in warne mounts. the total setup cost me under £500 2nd hand with less than 50 rounds through it,,yes, I was lucky to find it, but deals are out there! I suspect I will still have that setup in the cabinet when I die.

    Its actually a bsa monarch i use right now with a s&b 8x56 but i think its time for a change the monarch is real heavy.

    there was a cz550 on here for sale complete, i think it was with in your budget.

    or you could just save some money and get a Howa and put the S&B 6x42 Hungarian on it, and probably buy your first years supply of ammo as well

    Tikka out of the box, Perfect you wont get better for your money.Very accurate without fussing over it.

    Add a few more pounds and get a tikka you won't be disappointed

    Always worth trying before committing as rifles are very personal things. So no push either way - but we have a 243 Howa course rifle that new is within your budget - if you want to come try it drop me a PM. We've usually got a T3 floating around - no promises! - so you can possibly compare.
