looking for an architect at resonable cost

No sure whether it helps, but I drew my own extension plans. I only have a very basic schoolboys technical drawing at "O level". My local planning dept were most helpful, once I explained what I wanted to do with my very limited skills. It showed up how little I knew, but wasn't that complicated.

I'll ask around, but if you do decide to instruct another architect, I would suggest a local one might be best.

Regards,

Mark.

07790314919 or edb@edwardbennett.info - Edward Bennett. Based in London but should be pretty helpful, will probably want paying but I'm sure he can help. Tell him Tom Waines sent you.

Regards

Tom

Ps he usually answers the phone until late!

+1 for drawing your own plans.
Admittedly my father was a structural engineer, surveyor and architect, so I grew up with this sort of thing going on around me, but it really isn't that difficult to put together what's required for planning purposes at least.
Sadly I lost my dad 6 years ago, but I managed to do our extension plans ok last week!
