Driving through a fen soil dust storm this morning!

I just had to get the phone out and video the fen soil blowing across the road on the way to work this morning between Yaxley and Holme. It was about 8.45am, had been blowing for a while and would have kept going all day.

I just hope that the poor old farmers haven't lost a load of spring drilling coz it's been bad enough for them lately as it is!!

Sorry about the narrow vid I forgot the iphone should be used on its side!!!

Amazing. Never seen that happen before. Well not in this country anyway.

We had one so bad last year around this time before the hosepipe ban that blocked the road like a snow drift!! I never came home that way but I reckon it would have been near that today. I'll check it out in the morning and maybe get some more footage or a pic or two!!

    Stratts,

That's the famous 'Fen Blow', which is peculiarly common in the lea of Holme Fen just beyond the tree line. It's often red, and looks like it blew in straight from the set of Lawrence of Arabia. (Made in 1963) - so before your time.
If I'm going to be accused of it then it's just as well I did it.
