Thinking of lashing out on a pair or radios to keep in touch with my mate when we are covering different parts of the estate.

Any recommendations for some radios that will work on some pretty lumoy ground without breaking the bank?

Have a look at one of the little Yaesu's - I use them for general mounteneering. They have a very broad range of frequency's in the 2m band, marine bands plus you can also get commercial radio etc on them.

The older Alinco's are also very good and very tough, but quite big and bulky.

    Heym

Excuse my ignorance, but do you need a Foundation Amateur Radio License to use the 2m band?

At the very least, a short range certificate obtained over one days training, awarding body M.C.A., lasts indefinately.
