    ICI Nobel

    Hi All
Has any body out there got any loading charts for Nobel Rifle powder No 0,1 and 2 or burn rates compared to other powders, I would be particularly interested on loads for .243 Win and .260 Rem but any 6mm and 6.5mm info would be appreciated. I also have a tin of revolver No1 if any body has a use for it.

I have unopened tins of Nobel 201 and 202 if they are any use to any one

I would not try to guesstimate loadings for "like" Nobel 0, 1 or 2 Rifle Powders but use the correct ICI Nobel booklet. However you will find that whilst it will have 243 it won't of course, have 260 and from what I recall none for 6mm but possibly some for 6.5 Swedish.

Revolver No1 was used in the 22 Hornet, of course, as well as in..well...revolvers. In fact it was an AWFUL revolver powder with huge amounts of unburnt grains all over the place in most revolvers. We hated it and couldn't wait to get USA powders.

Vectan powders made by Nobel Sport have some that are same burn rate as some of the old Nobel Glasgow powders.

I have a copy of the old Nobel reloading book, I will dig it out later and look up the information for you.
It's the calibre of the shooter that counts not the calibre of the rifle.

Sorry no data on 260 simply not listed.

I think that the 260 was not available when the nobel (Glasgow)? powder was around.C

easy to extrapolate 260 data using a comparable data set for a known powder for use in 243.

looking at the ranges and maxes on comparable bullets in 243 for VV data and the Noble data:

"Rifle 1" looks somewhere between N140 and N540 in terms of burn rate and energy
"Rifle 0" looks somewhere between N160 and N550 in terms of burn rate and energy

all of which are listed in some capacity as .260rem compatible powders.
start low and work up slowly
