I couldn't adjust my scope vertically when I had the Warne rings on my Mannlicher Pro-Hunter, so I got Burris Signature rings with offset inserts and that sorted things out. http://www.burrisoptics.com/sigrings.html
I've since moved on to having a rail on both my rifles and now have the following Burris rings.

Although it's not aesthically pleasing, after 40 years of tangling with mounting scopes, I think rails are the only way to go. I can now swop scopes between rifles in a matter of minutes. Regards JCS

I went from Warne to Leupold QRW and they are much better, you can even remove the scope when cleaning the rifle and refit without changing your zero. My new rifle will have Leupold PRW rings as they are slightly cheaper.

I have the pro hunter in .243 & .270, I had apel swivel release mounts on my .243 until I changed to Sw scope, then changed mounts to Hilver, on my .270 I have warne quick release, both are sound, and I have had no problems with either
