    600yds ammo test

    I had a go at 600yds the other evening,it wasn't as good as I had hoped,it's really hard to hold rifle that still on a down slope aiming at 3 inch orange square,after seeing this bloke shot 0.349 oai 5 shot group it seems pointless putting a photo on

    if it was easy mate everyone would be doing it who shot the group 0.349 ?? that's some shooting

    Some American called Wagner,6mm br benchrest shooting,that's amazing,my 3 shot group was 6 inches,it was a little breezy too,first group on the right,2nd left,25-06 with 85gr nos bal tips,am sure I could of shot better if I could of held it steady enough

    Do they not have the gun in a vice like rest when bench resting? If so it aint really shooting more a test of how well they can read wind and load ammunition.

    Ok, just had a look on google earth using a known distance as a rough measure and on my entire 2300acre shoot of mixed woodland, Arable and pasture- there is no where near 600 safe yards! I can get to about 530 at a push I reckon but no more.

    Bisley's the best bet, but NRA membership and SSC cards are mandatory nowadays...
