    223 Load data Please

Buying a Tikka T3 in 223, long distant bunny bashing and the odd fox. I wish to use a 40 or 45 gr bullet, any suggestions as to powder and bullets? Or are 40 or 45 gr too light.

i'm sure you allready know but tikka do a 1 in 8 and a 1 in 12 and i would not put it past a gun dealer to sell you a 1 in 8 wich would not be best for those light bullets.good call on going for a tikka, love them.

As already stated if it's a tighter twist barrel you might be better using a heavier bullet but only experimenting will tell you.

In my 223 I use 55 grain Hornady SPWC product #2266 (about the cheapest expanding bullet you can buy) I use 20.5 grains of N120. Yes it is a fast powder but it gives amazing results in my rifle and because I use less than I would with N133 (probably the more popular 223 powder) I get a few more bangs out of a tub.

N120 is also good for 50 grain V-max for those I use 21.8 grains

A good 55 gn pill like a nosler Bt will shoot well in either 1:8 or 1:12 twist tikka. Powder choice is wide open, varget, ww748, or one of the VV offerings.

I was pushing 40gn v max out of my Howa with 26.5gn of varget. Accurate combo and flat shooting but a bit wind sensitive. Have moved on to 53gn vmax now and plan to stick with it.
