    got rats

just been out to the garage to fill the dogs food bin,

and seen heard a rat scuttling away up into the other side of the garage also some dropping on the floor,

what traps the best to use in this case with dogs and kids about.

    cheers

    bob.

Set them along walls plate side to wall, stick a tile sideway against wall to cover from dogs etc....That said you will most likely run into Neophobia a fear of new objects in thier enviroment, if you do bombing it with a bromadiolone based bait, whole grain for preference would be the way forward. PMed you a mobile number if you want a chat

    thanks lads

i was not sure a simple mouse like trap would work, i don't want to put stuff down for fear of my dog or kids touching it etc,

    Hi CSL.

    very true.

now we will have the food kept in a steel air tight bin outside the garage,

also just spoke to the next door neibour to let them know that the rats are about, and he said he keeps his dog food in his garage too,

now have 2 steel air tight bins to buy.

Try a snap e rat trap or similar [oversize mouse trap style] baited with a dollop of peanut butter. Set 2 traps end to end along the route the rat is travelling and protect with a board or roof slate or whatever is to hand. Rats liketo travel known routes and are wary of changes to their environment so try and disturb the area as little as possible. If you can set the traps safely using existing cover to protect from fingers and dog snouts all the better. Hope that helps. Cheers. Ben
