    17Rem

I know this isnt the place for varmint rounds but I seldom visit other sites (that dont have boobies on anyway!) and have recently purchased a .17rem cz527.
Does anyone have load data for this round?
I generally use VV powder but I'm happy to change for this calibre.

Stick with the VV powder as it burns really clean in the 17 - N133 N135 powders of choice. Latest Hornady manual gives a load for N133.

    Published max load Lee Data;

    25 Jacketed Bullet Vihtavuori VV-N135 22.8 4035

Hi Tony, I use 21grns Vit N133 behind a 25grn Berger Varmint Match HP - gives just under 3800fps from a 22" barrel in my Rem700 LVSF. Mustard on crows and bunnies out to 300 plus yards and not too loud - you can go a bit higher in charge weight for a bit more oomph, but I personally dont see any need to. Super little varmint round, cant see me using my other larger calibres for varmints much now.

    Hi Tony

Have you found any local dealers with components for the 17 rem as I am in the process of getting one myself. The dealers I have spoken to round here will special order but don't have it in stock.

    Cheers

    Only just spotted this S.
Tim has some at McEvoys in standish.
Best hurry though as I'm going to wipe him out of brass
I have just on 500 brass, 300 once/twice fired the rest new.
I bought all Tims 25gr vmax and have a number of 25gr hornady hp's.
I'm going to go with N133 powder and stick with the N140 for the .243 and .308.
I'll be travelling past your way later this week if you want me to pick owt up?

Thats the highest quoted load I've seen in a manual. I actually worked up to 23g and achieved 4200fps from my Pacnor 26inch barrel but starting having some brass issues. (Splitting) I've backed down to 22g which is still very accurate and have now realised I had a Faulty batch of brass.

    Hi Tony
I've done ok for components in the end and have some 20g vmax and 400 berger 25g match bullets. Got a new bag of cases too which will do me for a good while. I'm currently trying H4895 but haven't got chance to shoot beyond 50 yards yet. Have you modded yours yet?
