Police fined £40000 for instructor shooting a chap across a table in a police station with .44 Magnum

Did he get banged up? Dont be daft he is a police officer, an expert, a supreme arian lifeform. How dare you suggest he spend time with criminals and scum.

We need to setup a fund for his fine though, minimum £10 each.

Oh in case you are wondering the chap he shot was in coma for 12 days , kidneys, liver and bowel exploded and will never work again.............

I saw that on the BBC website, i couldn't belive all he got was a £8000 fine and £8000 expenses/costs (think i'm right in saying that).

What i really don't understand is how an officer who failed his firearms course was still allowed to handle a pistol, and what makes this even worse...why the hell was he loading live ammunition in a class room....why would you even load blank ammunition in a class room....there is NO NEED!

i think he used the excuse of he didn't realise it was live...its not that bloody difficult to tell the difference.

Anyway...rediculus, the chap he shot is very lucky to still be alive.

Accident or not he should have been given a more serious sentance for sheer stupidity.

even more ridiculous was that he apparently actually pointed the weapon at the victim and pulled the trigger!

what happened to never pointing a weapon at anything unless you want to shoot it.

This bloke should be inside

Cheers

I also saw this on yesterdays BBC news. I sat there with my mouth open in disbelief.

I will also add that there are a great many other mistakes made by the Police that also go un reported.

I bet he didn't even have the courtesy to ask the poor beggar if he felt lucky!

In a similar fashion . . .

Melvyn Nurse, 35, a clergyman, used a .357 calibre Magnum revolver loaded with one blank round to dramatise his sermon before a packed congregation at Livingway Christian Fellowship Church Internationl in Jacksonville, Florida on 26 September. He illustrated each of the seven deadly sins by playing Russian roulette, spinning the chamber and holding the gun to his head. After one spin, the gun fired and the cardboard wadding in the blank pierced his temple, inflicting fatal brain injuries.

DOH!

I read Goerge Orwells book at school and though it was really depressing and unreal.

The man was a seer and we did not know it.

Two legislative books. One for politicians and police officers another for potential criminals (US)

Back in the 80s I remember the american actor Jon Erik Hexum killed himself by holding a 44 magnum filled with blanks to his head and pulling the trigger on the set of his TV series.
The wad hit his temple and propelled a piece of bone into his brain causing massive bleeding

I was always told as a youngster that all guns are loaded
even if the chamber is empty
and NEVER piont a gun at anything unless
you want to kill it
( advice from my grandfarther (WW1 marksman) )

un-****ing believable!

I must remember this when my renewal is due - 'where do you keep your ammo?' 'in a sweetie tin, on the porch.'

What really drives me nuts is how these ****s consider themselves experts and continually try to lecture us. So many of us are ex-services and know exactly what would happen to us if we pointed or muzzle swept someone - they'd bloody well get up and smash us in the mouth. We'd deserve it to. Yet this prick who can't even pass their crappy test and has no respect for the safety of others wanders around doing dirty harry impressions............pointing a pistol at another and pulling the trigger not once but twice. i just can't believe it.

I joined the police after leaving the army and eventually ended up armed. I have to say that after my thorough weapons handling instruction in the army - the police course was a bloody joke. I soon left that outfit due to the amount of idiots and armchair warriors that seemed to be attracted to it.
One of my first experiences was immediately after their training, we got sent to escort a big time criminal to and from court. Standing in the lift and heading up to court and i hear 'click, click, click.' The tosser next to me who incidentally was also a sgt was flicking the safety of his carbine off and on. Real confidence inspiring!

Incidentally, 2012 and the olympics. It poses as a big target for terrorists, right and armed officers are being drafted in from all around the country to beef up security. Which constabulary has not been asked to send officers due to their poor training and ability? Strathclyde Police. Which area do i live in and who's firearms licensing office attempt to lecture and restrict me at every turn - Strathclyde, that's who!

Blanks are actually quite dangerous. As a kid our sgt put the muzzle of an SLR against a blastic bottle full of water and fired off a blank. The bottle ripped apart in spectacular fashion - i never forgot that lesson.

Here's another unbelievable one..it's real, honest . Listen to the little kids as they try to tell him to put the rifle down right after he's shot himself in the leg with his own bloody pistol!

Sounds like he achieved the aim of discouraging kids to get involved with firearms/and or the DEA, wonder if DEA is short D***heads explaining arms?

Some time last year I was working as a civilian rco at a range facility belonging to a police force, some of the attitudes & activities were a little , shall we say childish & others could simply stand in for Walter Mitty, some of the training going on was quite varied, using lots of equipment having nothing to do with firearms at all, money seemed to have very little limitation either.

I think this whole thread exposes an obvious point. Any idiot whatever their glorified title will not be safe with a weapon.

Accidental sweeps across shooters in a recreational environment may occur on occasion but pointing a weapon with deliberate intent at someone is a different matter and demonstrates the individual is dangerous and ignorant.
