    Thumbs up baboons

    can anybody recommend a calibre suitable for large baboon males as I have a mate from knowsley who is interested in putting in a variation

    Never shot a baboon (none in Herefordshire) and don't have my MSC1 but guess a 7mm or .30 calibre with a decent bullet would be just fine. Mate shot one with a .416/500 and apparently that did the biz.

    .17 HMR?....usually good to 500 yards plus on baboons.

    I said 30/06 and shotgun with bb/ssg for the close up stuff (keep a cartridge belt full for such use myself) ...

    Whats wrong with an fac air rifle???

    They have 3 rifles at Knowsley a CZ 222 a Remington 30-06 and a CZ 458win mag, the reason I know this is the 222 used to be mine.

    From personal experience, .222 will do fine. Have seen 12 bore with 00 buckshot work too.

    They're a soft bodied primate, like us, and not all that difficult to kill.
