I will second Greymaster, seen his dogs run a good few times and they run well and are usually gettin there feet wet at the end. I would think u will have no problem's with him, i think he does specialise in the hprs
(Apologies My english geography is rubbish) But probably well worth a day trip to Rory major at Bryanscroft, Lincs? for a training day or something. The other famous 1 is Andy Cullin, Laochin? Gundogs i think, above Newcastle, think he does (he did anyway) weekend courses on the grouse moors be well worth making a weekend off it and seeing ur dog work on some totally different open country, exactly wot they were breed for. (If u fancy headin North might be worth looking into it shortly as counting will be starting anytime soon on the English moors)
Is there not quite a big hpr club scene down south? A lot off the clubs that run field trials might also run training days (weekly/monthly)
Some trainers will take on hpr's depends on trainer, end of day still just a dog. Actually a few well know and well established trainers/triallers branching into the hpr scene.
Vizslamad, wot HPR books would u reccommend?
I read a few before i got mine and was pretty dissappointed with them all really, or atleast nothing i hadn't read before in 'normal' gundog books, but i supose there is only so much u can write about training a dog and i've read a few books.
Althou Rory's DVD is quite good, but hard to guage ur dog aggainst a dvd
The worst advice i followed with mine was off a top hpr trainer and the best advice of a spaniel trainer, really helped me back on track; like most things in life, all depends on the individuals, both dog, trainer and handler/owner
