Logging / timber processing possible opportunity

Would anyone on here with forestry connections know of an experienced logging / log processing manager looking for an opportunity?

Not immediately available but for early 2014 the Group I work with will be looking for an experienced Manager to oversee a (definitely fully legal & certified!) logging operation in a West African timber plantation.

Large Tropical hardwoods to be felled, transported to factory & processed into sawn planks (plus biomass fuel pellets from waste) for export.

Definite remote up-country location so normal "African" conditions (which I did for several years years so I'm not talking without understanding the difficulties) but good long-term opportunity.

    Just thought I'd ask.

    Thanks.

Sounds like a wee change of scenery from what I'm used to and stuck doing up here!

good luck to who ever applies for it, good opportunity!

    Hi Iain!
Man, its a shame, a few years ago, I would have been there in a second.... Now with family and kids.... No way to escape for a longer period.....
If you need any support on the timber and logging, just send me a pm!

    Good luck

If you're short of applicants, try Arbtalk - tree work forum. Always plenty of guys looking for work, should get some interest.

Thanks for the replies and for the offer of help.

The project is progressing at normal African pace (as ever ) but we may have found our man in Sweden.

I may be in contact in the new year Michael. Thanks.
