    carping again

Got the rods out again today instead of the rifle, a cracking afternoon , landed over 20, inc 6 or 7 doubles, lost 9 or 10, all of the surface with a fake dog biscuit,, thay will be it for a few weeks, I better get back out and get few easy bucks before its all over ,

I to have been at the carp, not bothered for the last couple of years other than the odd trip, maybe 2 a year.
Strange really as I used to fish at least 4 nights a week and a couple of days as well, and I am the fisheries officer for a local club.
I have never stopped working over the lakes, but fishing has taken a back seat for to long now, time to play catch up.
I went last week for the first time this year, just a short day session which resulted in a low 20 mirror carp, time no to crack on and
see if I can find a few of the ever elusive 30 pound commons, also a couple of big ghost carp in there along with a brightly coloured Koi
should keep me occupied for at least the rest of this year.

PS: No surface fishing for me, it's cheating

Surface fishing is brill, I was always a barbel angler but after a few visits to these densely stocked lakes it spoiled it for me, so say barbel top fighting fish,, them carp will take some beating, without the flow of the river helping, ive never fished for big carp, best ive had is 19lb 8oz off the top with my barbel rod

I used to fish for Barbel but the 350 mile round trip just got too expensive to carry on.
I still say Barbel fight harder than carp, even in still water they go like stink.
Best fun was sight fishing for Barbel in clear water when you can actually watch the bait and see them pick it up.
I have a lake that is heavily stocked with carp to about 12lb and it is great fun on light gear.
