    wearing glasses for stalking

Hi all,I've been stalking for years now but in the last few months i've had to wear my glasses for stalking. The problem is that they steam up all the time and when its raining forget it,have started to wear a skip cap now when its raining, all it does is make them steam even more. When shooting deer now it seems to take me ages to get focused on the deer with my glasses on so miss some opportunities now which i never did before. Was thinking of contacts but have tried them before and didn't like them but i think i will need to persevere with them.Has anybody had same problem or is it just me

It took me a while to get used to contact lenses but I find looking through a scope or binoculars awkward with glasses and also problems of rain, steaming up and sometimes glare. If you haven't tried them yet daily disposal contact lenses are the most comfortable and any dust etc. accumulated during the day goes with them. Keep a good pair of glasses to hand as a back up just in case of eye irritation. atb Tim

    Hi BC.

I have been wearing contacts for about 20 years and would certainly suggest you try and persevere for a while. I use the daily lenses which are very easy to put in / take out and really comfortable to wear.
    Give them another go.

I tried wearing glasses while stalking, but the beer kept spilling now I carry a hip flask.

It's all down to you not being used to seeing properly now. Make sure you have changed the diopter on your scope. If you are misting up it means you are exerting too much, slow down. Use an anti mist spray which mimics the coating on your scope etc.

    + 1 for contact lenses.
I been wearing them for over 20 years, after got fed up with glasses steaming up, and not being able to see in the rain!
I use monthly replacement lenses. Put them in first thing in the morning, take them out just before bed. Bloody marvellous!

Admit that fisrt day or two felt like someone had thrown a handful of sand in my eyes, but well worth persevering. Eyes soon adapt, and produce more fluid.

    Is laser treatment a possibility?

Not all spectacle wearers can use contacts. I wore them fo about 10 years and then the shape of my eye changed and had to revert to specs. Real pain in the rain, fog and when you are puffing on the hill. Keep them clean with a anti mist spray and it will be just about bearable. I have a special anti shatter lenses for safety sake . I would recommend you go to a good independent optician which specialises in contacts - not one of the big chains as all they want to do is sell sell sell .

Are you wearing a face mask? I find that certain of my masks direct my breath up onto the lenses and means I fog up even I'm sitting in a high seat. Try a mesh type if you are.

i stalked in glasses (a real fag) i tried contacts (didn't work for me with my stigmatism) i manned up(i was being a bit of a wimp) and went for laser eye surgery and it's the best thing i've ever done ! (altough it was a serious assult on the wallet)
    Right where's those stones , I'll start !
